Helping communities grow through digital business and marketing initiatives.
Who We Are
We’re a team of digital marketing professionals passionate about exploring digital tools, creating open resources, and supporting small businesses. Our projects focus on experimenting with digital tools and providing value to small businesses and emerging marketer communities. Inspired by the open-source movement in the tech industry, we aim to publish most of our insights and resources under Creative Commons and ODL-specific open licenses—allowing you to freely distribute, edit, and adapt them within the license terms.
What We Do
ODL’s platforms serve as a testing ground where we experiment with a wide range of digital marketing and business tools, from media buying software and website builders to social media platforms and analytics tools. By diving deep into each tool, our members can learn digital marketing valuable skills and build their portfolio at the same time.Through these projects, we gather insights and turn them into practical resources—like guides, templates, and e-books—that others can adapt and use. Many of our materials will be shared under various licenses, including Creative Commons and ODL-specific licenses, providing flexibility in how they can be used and adapted. In addition to our publications, we also provide services to small businesses for free or charging a very small fee through our Small Business Support projects. These projects aim to create immediate, tangible improvements that contributes to the growth of these small businesses.
Why We Do It
We do this because we want to apply our digital marketing skills to something meaningful—thus, we engage in social projects that make a positive impact. Our commitment to this cause is further inspired by the free and open-source movement in the tech community. We noticed that while open resources are common in tech, the digital marketing industry lacks a similar culture of accessible, freely available knowledge. Digital marketing is often seen as purely business-driven, but we believe there are valuable open-source principles we can adopt to benefit everyone in the field. That’s why most of our resources are designed to be shared as open educational materials, accessible to all.Our focus on small and local businesses stems from our belief that these businesses play a vital role in enriching their communities. With even modest support, they can reach new customers, expand, and thrive. Similarly, we aim to empower digital marketers with a space for learning, experimentation, and professional development so that they can elevate their skills and compete on a global scale.
